‘Into the Gravelly Ground’, solo exhibition, at the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, Co.Wicklow. This body of work was the result of the exploration of the Turlough Hill hydro electricity plant, the engineered reservoir and surrounding area of the Wicklow mountains.
The film transgresses the internal industrial mechanisms of the hydro electricity power plant and the mountain range at Toomenena. Moving between internal and external forces juxtaposing the spectacle of nature and landscape and that of environmental engineering.
In the absence of a traditional narrative it is the site itself that takes the role of protagonist, while the camera proposes narration through its travel and observation of the proposed sites. The series of prints were a process of projected photographic images through manmade apertures documented at the site.
