Biography

 

Janine Davidsons practice explores individual experience and collective memory. The work is primarily lens based incorporating the use of both digital and analogue technologies. Her practice is concerned with  a sense of place and how we navigate that space. Exploring the physical and social  space in which we learn and how we learn from each other.

Exhibitions include Public Art Commission Grangegorman Development Agency, ‘Stories Between Us’ 2019-2021, ‘Into the Gravelly Ground’, The Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, Co.Wicklow, Jealous Wall curated by Seamus McCormack Luan Gallery Athlone ‘A Fiction in Reality’, Villa Iris, Santander, Spain, ‘The Starry Messenger’, curated by Declan Sheehan, Void Gallery, Derry, ‘The way we live now and then’ curated by Mary Conlon, ‘-Battery+’, Tullamore Arts Centre, Offaly invited by Brendan Fox, ‘Underline’ at Occupy Space, Limerick and ‘Penumbra’ at Tactic, Cork in 2014. Her work has also been exhibited in Hong Kong, Johannesburg, New York, Nice, Stockholm and extensively across Ireland.

 

Awarded Residencies: Carmabi Foundation and  Instituto Buena Bista, Curaçao. Art, Politics and Architecture Workshop directed by Carlos Garaicoa kindly funded by Fundación Botin, Spain. Artists Proof Studios, Johannesburg, South Africa which was kindly funded by The British Council.
